The line that inspired this setting was 'recognised as a black sheep amongst the herd we recognise.' so I found a transparent file of a sheep (.png), made a copy of it, changed the color of its wool to black and imposed the Island School logo on top of it. I decided to take advantage of the recurring theme of red and use it here with the label ('The Tai Wai community'). This is my favourite scene from the infographic and the one I am the most proud of. Should I have done it the other way round, it would definitely have looked less attractive. Placing the locals (all in black) on the darker side and the foreigners (all in white) on the lighter one results in a nice effect offset by the similar shades.

Though I did not use any outside images apart from the landmarks, the two different colours already serve as their own barrier. The clear border between sea-foam green and turquoise also was very convenient, since the voiceover script starts off with 'There is a clear cut border separating locals and foreigners.', with the locals on one side (marked with the Hong Kong flag) and the foreigners on the other (marked with a picture of Earth). A lot of the images I used were actually taken off the internet and either cropped or edited by me, which made sticking to a select number of colours extremely difficult, so I chose a backdrop that wasn't too showy (neon pink or yellow) or too stark (white, black). I picked this background because the shades of green used in it were aesthetically pleasing and they would go well with a variety of colours.

I exported the product as an mp4 to facilitate editing, so all you needed to do was to stick the mp4 in and that would be it. Though visuals are important, if the voiceover accompanying them has crackling noises in the background, talks too loudly, or is a few seconds behind the animation, it all distracts the audience from the creator's original purpose. There was one animation near the end which carried on for a shorter amount of time than expected, which I should have thought about and done double checks for. This resulted in a certain delay between the voice and the info graphic, so after I finished the animation, I went to iMovie and edited what latency there might have been out. Because PowToon does not allow you to simultaneously listen to audio and play the animation on the same website, throughout production I was constantly clicking back and forth between tabs, playing the recording in one tab and then starting the animation (to see if it was synced with the voiceover). Luckily, the voiceover was of good quality, so all I needed to do was to sync my voiceover with the infographic. These two objectives are both relatively simple, though the voiceover was certainly beyond my control.
